Beyond The Buoy
The Dream Continues...
The Story Behind the Swim That Made History
There’s a kind of silence you only hear underwater. It’s not empty — it’s full. Full of old thoughts, new fears, and memories you didn’t even know were still there. That silence has always felt like home. And it’s exactly where this story begins. I grew up on Lake Wawasee — Indiana’s largest natural lake. Some of my earliest memories are tied to these waters: the smell of sunscreen on the boat, early mornings watching fog lift off the surface, and long summer days that felt like they’d never end. This lake didn’t just shape me — it raised me. Years later, I returned to it with one idea:
What if I swam the entire shoreline?
Not for a medal or a record — but for meaning. For connection. For the kid who grew up here, and the man still figuring it all out.
On September 17, 2025, I became the first person in history to swim the full 17-mile perimeter of Lake Wawasee. No motor. No breaks. Just one continuous lap — stroke after stroke, hour after hour — to honor where I came from and push far beyond where I thought I could go.
Beyond the Buoy is my story of what it really took — the pain, the fear, and the moments that changed everything. It’s about going beyond the limits you set for yourself, and finding strength in the silence that used to scare you. This book dives deep into what happens when we face the storms head-on:
the anxiety, the identity struggles, the expectations, and the healing that comes when you refuse to quit. Because the swim was never just about water — it was about life.
This isn’t just my story.
It’s for anyone who’s ever felt stuck, lost,
or searching for purpose. If you’ve ever wanted to rebuild,
rewire, or rise again — this journey is for you.
